Cardinals fan Rickie Fowler won the PGA Players Championship, is better at golf than baseball

Players Champ Rickie Fowler took BP with Cards in '14

Rickie Fowler is a professional golfer and an avid Cardinals fan.

On Sunday, Fowler went 6-under par on the last six holes of the final round of the PGA Players Championship and found himself in a three-way tie atop the leaderboard. He then survived a three-hole aggregate playoff that eliminated Sergio Garcia from competition and then birdied No. 17 to take home a victory, his second on the tour.

And it's a good thing because he probably doesn't have much of a future in baseball. Fowler grew up in California, but moved to Jupiter, Fla., home of the Cardinals Spring Training facility. After taking in a bunch of Cardinals exhibition games and befriending players on the roster, Fowler adopted the team as his own and was even present for the 2013 NLCS against the Dodgers.

Last spring, Fowler got to take some batting practice down at Roger Dean Stadium and admittedly did not have enough pop for The Show:

At least he's got this whole golf thing goin' for him. And if that falls through, maybe he's got a future in baseball movie sequels?
