Time persists, inescapably. On Thursday, Chase Utley turns 37 years old. Two weeks later, the Earth will complete yet another journey around that eternal sphere of fire we call a sun. Everyone, everything, ages.
Utley, after 12 1/2 seasons with the Phillies, will begin his first full season with the Dodgers in the spring. In some ways it is a change, in others a continuity. A simple sign of time's push onward. We must embrace it. So, on this, his 37th birthday, let us look back at Utley through the ages -- from his very first Spring Training photo with the Phillies in 2001 to his final portrait with the club, one year ago.
