Not content with being merely unhittable, Chris Sale busted out one heck of an eephus pitch

We're not sure if you've heard, but this Chris Sale guy is pretty good at the whole throwing baseballs thing -- he spent a good portion of the season striking people out at a rate we hadn't seen since Pedro, and during his last start of the season Friday against the Tigers, he set the White Sox single-season strikeout record. 

All of which is nice, but has now been rendered irrelevant -- because Oct. 2, 2015, will be forever remembered as the day an awe-struck nation discovered that Chris Sale apparently has an eephus pitch in his bag. And it is every bit as terrifying as you'd imagine:

Sale fired seven-plus innings of one-run ball as the White Sox got the win, presumably because both teams just decided to pack it in at that point.
