Kids ask Orioles pitchers tough questions like, 'Do you know why Buck Showalter never smiles?'

Orioles pitchers answer kids' questions at FanFest

Now is the time of fanfests, when fans and players get together in a celebration of their favorite team. They bring with them one of MLB's most hallowed traditions: Young children addressing professional baseball players with soul-searching questions that strike at the very heart of one's identity. Earlier this month, Reds players answered hypotheticals where they had to confront non-baseball alternate realities and considered the impossibility of beating Billy Hamilton in a foot race.

At Orioles FanFest, it was Miguel Gonzalez and Chris Tillman's turn to face the interrogation.

Young O's fans asked such questions as, "What made you want to become a pitcher?

Tillman: "Probably the fact that I couldn't hit."

And, "In the middle of a game, do you ever want to quit?"

Gonzalez: "No, never."

And then a young fan named Lily asked what is quite possibly the hardest question asked in the history of fanfests:

"Do you know why Buck Showalter never smiles?"

Answering the Riddle of the Sphinx was easier than that question. For the answer, check out the video above. And if you want to see J.J. Hardy and Ryan Flaherty play some trivia tic-tac-toe, watch below:
