Clayton Kershaw and Albert Pujols faced off in a Wiffle ball game for charity

Clayton Kershaw and Albert Pujols hosted a Wiffle ball game at Angel Stadium Wednesday afternoon to benefit Kershaw's Challenge and the Albert Pujols Family Foundation.

Fans from all over donated for the opportunity to play in the game with the two superstars. Finalists were chosen, interviewed over Skype and the winners were notified earlier this week.

"It's great to hit homers and win the World Series but at the end of the day, it's about making a difference off the field and that's how we want to be remembered," Pujols said.

Troy Hedman donates frequently to the Pujols Family Foundation and received an email about donating for the event. He was notified Sunday that he won, invited two of his friends and flew from St. Louis to Anaheim.

"I received an email saying here's another way to give if you want to give, and it talked about Wiffle ball. So, I put some in and didn't think anything of it," Hedman said. "Weeks went by and I ended up getting an email saying that I was a finalist and the next day, I found out I won."

Unfortunately, one of his friends left the game with an injury after fielding a ground ball hit by Kershaw.

"He most likely broke his collarbone in a Wiffle game," Hedman said. "Eventually he will realize that it makes for a great story. We will be giving him trouble about that for a long time."

Susie Acosta was the Kershaw's Challenge winner and brought her husband and her nephew to participate.

"I didn't expect to win, I was so surprised," Acosta said. "I was notified when I was driving back from the Dodgers game in San Diego. "

Acosta's nephew, Sam Vazquez, split pitching duties with Kershaw.

"Everybody got a hit off me except Pujols! I was pretty proud of that and will definitely be telling my friends about that," Sam said.

Following the game, Kershaw and Pujols signed autographs, answered questions and ate lunch with the winners.

"We have a huge platform," Kershaw said. "Baseball is an amazing game and I love to play it but at the same time, realizing what you can do off the field is really important to us, and I echo everything Albert said."
