Clubhouse clown Trevor Bauer made fun of himself during Indians Twitter takeover

Best of Tribe's Trevor Bauer Twitter takeover

By Jordan Bastian / MLB.com

Indians pitcher Trevor Bauer has done in-depth research into the physics of pitching and embraces technology and video techniques in order to improve his biomechanics and velocity in hopes of adding to one of baseball's most promising pitching staffs. But that's only one side to him.

Once considered quiet and quirky, Bauer has been increasingly showing off his great sense of humor. He rocks a bright blue wig when Duke's basketball team has a game and even laughed off a clubhouse prank in which Goodyear police officers presented him with the back-to-back-to-back home run balls he yielded to the Cubs on Tuesday.

For Friday's split-squad game against the D-backs, the Indians let their new class clown (@BauerOutage on Twitter) take over the team's official Twitter account for live in-game commentary.

Bauer did not disappoint.

After Indians pitcher Zach McAllister struck out Arizona's Jake Lamb in the second inning, Bauer was reminded of the stylings of comedian Will Ferrell, who took the mound for the Dodgers as part of his 10-position Cactus League circus on Thursday:

When the D-backs turned to the bullpen in the second, initiating the pitch timer in center field, Bauer joked that Arizona's new pitcher better hurry:

Bauer was not going to miss a chance to crack some jokes at the expense of reliever Scott Atchison who has a target on his back with his 39th birthday coming up. First, Bauer quipped that everything in Goodyear turned black and white when Atchison took the mound. Then this:

A huge college basketball fan, Bauer was not going to miss the chance to sneak in a reference to his favorite team. He found the perfect moment when Matt Szczur homered for the Cubs in Cleveland's split-squad road game:
