Comparing Big Papi to Papi, the Havanese champion dog

If you're anything like me, you've spent every free minute looking at pictures of dogs from the Westminster Kennel Club dog show. After all, why are we put on this Earth if not to stare lovingly at cute dogs?
And if you've clicked on the right Buzzfeed article, you may have come across Papi Chulo, a 3-year-old who competed with the Havanese dogs as part of the toy group. This Papi also just happens to be the cover model for this month's issue of "Dog News."
But how does Papi and the Boston Slugger stack up against each other? We decided we'd break it down for you:
Papi | Big Papi | |
---|---|---|
Age | 3 | 39 |
Full Name | GCH Peluito's Papi Chulo | David Americo (Arias) Ortiz |
Winner of Peninsula Best in Show | ✔ | |
Human Being | ✔ | |
Career homers | 0 | 466 |
Photogenic | ✔ | ✔ |
Windswept Hair | ✔ | |
Excellent showmanship | ✔ | ✔ |
Known for clutch performance | Maybe? | ✔ |
So while you may say the two aren't much alike, I'd say they're actually remarkably similar given that one is a dog ... and the other is a man with nearly 500 career home runs to his name.
Of course, that shouldn't be surprising. After all, Ortiz famously gave an interview while wearing the craziest shirt possible and petting a chihuahua like some kind of post-modern Bond villain.
