Cubs fan receives once-in-a-lifetime opportunity in Milwaukee
Harvey Ross remembers Easter Sunday 1992 like it was yesterday.
That was the day he was shot in the shoulder while returning home from playing basketball. The bullet is still lodged in Ross, leaving him with no movement in the lower half of his legs and a loss of sensation in his upper body.
Ross moved up to Wisconsin to escape gang violence and became a member at the Wisconsin Athletic Club in Wauwatosa. In his torn-up Cubs workout T-shirt and with Cubs decals on his car, he stuck out like a sore thumb in Brewers country. That helped Cubs traveling secretary Jimmy Banks spot him and invite him to watch BP before Wednesday's game at Miller Park.
