Cubs honor Jackie Robinson West before game at Wrigley Field

Cubs honor Jackie Robinson West at Wrigley Field

The Cubs were hosting the Brewers at Wrigley Field on Labor Day, but had a bit of business to attend to first: honoring the Little League World Series United States Champions, Jackie Robinson West.

The Chicago-based team beat out the rest of the Little League squads from America but fell to the team from Seoul at the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pa. In celebration of that achievement, the Cubbies donned Jackie Robinson West jerseys for batting practice before Monday's matchup and met the local players out on the field.

"This jersey feels really good, to be honest," Cubs pitcher Wesley Wright said. "When I saw it, it made me feel like we are tied in with them, even though we're not blood related or family. We feel like we're a part of what they went through. We watched a lot of their games. I know most of the kids are White Sox fans, but they have a lot of support in the city from all over."

The kids also got to take some BP in the cages beforehand, and their coach Darold Butler made an appearance in the booth during the game.

No matter how competitive it gets, baseball will always remain a kid's game.
