D-backs employees attempt to set world record for biggest paper-doll chain
Several members of Fostering Hope, a part of the D-backs Give Back League, made 30,000 paper dolls to be laid across the Chase Field concourse in an attempt to win break the Guiness World Record. Saturday’s Fostering Hope event was in support of National Make a Difference Day and an effort to raise awareness for foster care in Arizona.
The current Guinness World Record stands at 27,664 paper dolls, measuring 1,362.4 meters (4,469 feet, 9 inches) long and was made by pupils of the European School in Mol, Belgium, on April 24, 2010. So with a pile of 30,000 paper dolls, the team had more than enough to break the record.
“We love being able to help the community any way we can,” said event organizer Tiffanie Tallman. ”We’re not going home until we break the record.”
After a long day of cutting, stapling, coloring and stacking, the team still had some more work to do before officially submitting their attempt. The Fostering Hope team returned to the ballpark on Sunday to finalize their attempt, hopefully leaving with a new world record.
