The goat that cursed the Cubs was named 'Murphy'

Before the Cubs and Mets squared off at Citi Field Saturday night for Game 1 of the NLCS, a few pointed out that the goat that was kicked out of Wrigley Field with its owner in 1945, which led to the "Curse of the Billy Goat" theory and at least one goat eaten, was named "Murphy."

Murphy, Murphy … where have I heard that name lately? Oh, right.

Daniel Murphy in the NLDS: 7-for-21, 3 HRs (including the series winner), 5 RBIs, 5 runs scored.

So, maybe the Mets' second baseman is the Cubs' curse incarnate, or maybe he's just having a really good postseason. Guess they'll have to play the series to find out.
