First-round picks Dansby Swanson and Walker Buehler share a penchant for movie references

Swanson, Buehler share penchant for movie references

Dansby Swanson and Walker Buehler have a lot in common: They're both members of the Vanderbilt Commodores baseball team that's headed to the College World Series, they were both selected in the first round of the 2015 MLB Draft (Swanson No. 1 overall, Buehler No. 24) and they both have Twitter handle homages to movies they're far too young to have seen in theaters.

Dont get me wrong -- both are A+ movie references. But when "Forrest Gump" was released on July 6, 1994, Swanson, born on Feb. 11, 1994, wasn't even five months old. And when "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" came out on June 11, 1986, Buehler wouldn't be born for another eight years.

There's nothing wrong with appreciating a classic, though. It just means Swanson and Buehler spent some quality time with the VHS player growing up.

It also means someone of us are very, very old.
