Big Papi's beard sells for almost $11K, could be most expensive hairball ever

David Ortiz is a popular guy. He makes memorable speeches, hits clutch home runs and finished third in Boston's 2013 mayoral race. Oh, and his facial hair is also apparently worth more than most used cars.

Earlier this offseason, the Red Sox DH shaved his beard for charity, and on Sunday, the majestic locks (along with the razor and an autograph) sold for $10,877.77 in an online auction. According to ESPN, that's more than locks of hair from JFK ($1,800) and Mick Jagger ($6,000). All proceeds from the auction go towards the men's health charity Movember.
