David Price may or may not have been catfished by David Justice on Twitter

Price pretty sure he talked to Justice on Twitter

When you think about the black tie galas, award ceremonies, free promotional swag and starring in television commercials, being a celebrity sounds pretty simple. But when it comes to interacting with people on the Internet, things can get a bit messy.

And Tigers ace David Price is no dummy, which is why he's super careful about who he trusts on Twitter ... and is pretty sure that he didn't get catfished when he spoke to David Justice in 2010.

Price was participating in a Q&A session at the Tigers' Fan Fest over the weekend when he revealed that he grew up a Braves fan and that his childhood idol was slugger Justice. Price then recounted the time that he had the opportunity to speak with Justice on the phone ... unless it's one of those Manti Te'o-girlfriend situations.

"I never faced him, I haven't had a chance to meet him. Funny story: I think it was in 2010 we were here in Detroit when I was with [the Rays]. I was in the weight room and I was on Twitter and I saw that David Justice had followed me. So, I followed him back and sent him a direct message and he responded. I told him he was my idol and he was my favorite player and he was like, 'All right, well, ya know, take my number and gimme a call.' I was like, 'OK.' I called him as soon as he sent it to me and I probably talked to him for five or 10 minutes ... and still to this day I'm not sure if it was David Justice. But, I think it was," Price said with a laugh.
