Dodgers fan uses phone to haul in towering foul ball
Phones can do just about anything nowadays: They talk to you, finish your sentences, order you pizza, give you directions, set you up on dates and play Marco Polo. In a pinch, they can also be used as a substitute for a baseball glove, apparently.
The Dodgers were hosting the Angels at Camelback Ranch on Thursday when Scott Van Slyke skied a towering foul ball over the screen behind home plate. One Dodgers fan was busy multitasking at the time, taking in the game action and also using his mobile device.
When the ball finally returned to Earth, the fan cushioned its impact with his phone screen and corralled the souvenir on a ricochet.
Not exactly how we would have drawn it up, but a win's a win, right?
