U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Korea gives out Golden Glove Award to KBO's best ... DH?

Eric Thames and a DH won KBO Golden Glove Awards

There isn't currently a Gold Glove Award specifically for designated hitters in MLB. That makes sense, because their position doesn't require them to field anything at all.

But over in Korea, the KBO's Golden Glove Awards (no relation) are doled out to the best overall player at each position (taking all aspects of the game into account), and that means that DHs can win one, too! On Monday, U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Korea Mark Lippert announced that Lee Seung-yeop won the coveted hardware.

The Samsung Lions' DH -- whose nickname is "The Lion King" -- took home the award after hitting .332 and 26 home runs, including his 400th career KBO dinger, in his age 39 season.

And remember former MLB-er Eric Thames? He posted video game numbers for the NC Dinos this season (.381 AVG, 47 HR, 103 BB, 140 RBI, 1.288 OPS) en route to the KBO MVP Award, and now, his own Golden Glove.

So, now Thames has a glove made of gold and a glove with the Great Seal of the United States on it:
