History repeats itself: Fan tries to catch foul ball, showers section in popcorn instead

History, it is said, repeats itself -- the first time as tragedy, the second time as farce. We're all trapped in this cycle, even when we're just trying to catch foul balls in our foodstuffs. In case you don't believe us, we've assembled proof.

Tragedy, dated 4/26/15:

A fan nobly attempts to pluck a ball from the heavens, but instead, comes roughly crashing down to Earth. Well, in the form of popcorn kernels.

And now, farce, from Saturday's Indians-Rangers game:

We admit it - this is pretty funny. Plus, Brian (pictured in a camo cap, below), the guy who threw the popcorn everywhere, was at the park to celebrate his friend Tripp (in blue), who is soon to be married:

And we all know farces (OK, comedies, but close enough) end in marriages. 

The boys seem to have a pretty good sense of humor about it, too: 

However, the true tragedy is that neither attempt even approximates the Platonic ideal of the popcorn catch:

Except for that kid, we are all just shadows on the wall of the cave. But at least some of us still have popcorn.
