13-year-old girl throws complete game shutout, sends her team to Little League World Series

Female pitcher makes Little League history

Mo'ne Davis is the only girl on her Little League team, Philadelphia's Taney Dragons, and on Saturday, she became the only girl in Little League history to pitch a complete game shutout in a Little League World Series qualifying contest.

Davis only gave up three hits while recording six strikeouts in an 8-0 victory over Delaware's Newark National. According to Philadelphia Magazine, her fastball is capable of reaching 70 mph on the radar gun, and her curveball is even more devastating. Check it out:

Davis, whose walk-up music is Beyoncé's "Run the World (Girls)," is happy to make history, but she told the Philadelphia Daily News that "the attention should not just be on one girl; more girls should join boys' teams so it is a tradition and it won't be so special."

Though Davis began in the outfield, she's now supremely confident in her pitching skill. Wait for the 1:19 mark in this video hear her challenge to Clayton Kershaw:

Does Davis have any pitching advice for those who seek to emulate her?

"Just throw strikes," she said, "that's all you gotta do is throw strikes."
