Popular NYC sports bar has been renamed 'Daniel Murphy's' for duration of the World Series

NYC sports bar renamed after Daniel Murphy for WS

How good has Daniel Murphy been this postseason? Well, he's been good enough to shatter some records, propel the Mets to the World Series, get reporters asking him to verify that he hails from planet Earth ... and to get a popular Manhattan watering hole renamed in his honor.

Foley's NY Pub & Restaurant in Midtown bills itself as "an Irish bar with a baseball attitude," and is known as a hotbed for New York sports fanatics. It's even been known to attract a famous face or two:

The newly crowned Daniel Murphy's also told us to be on the lookout for a friendly wager with a Kansas City-area bar based on the outcome of the series:

If Mets-Royals wasn't a rivalry before, then it's about to be. Game 1 coverage is set to start on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. ET with first pitch scheduled for 8 p.m. on FOX.
