Former KBO/Mets pitcher ejected for drawing strike zone in dirt for Australian umpire

Former Met ejected in ABL for drawing strike zone

Mets fans have not yet forgotten KBO pitcher Dae-Sung Koo, whose total MLB experience is 23 innings of relief work in 2005. He posted a 3.91 ERA in those appearances, but is mostly remembered for surprising everyone with a double off Yankees ace Randy Johnson.

Even more surprising, Koo stole home later that inning when Jorge Posada left the plate unmanned to field a sacrifice bunt. He had to go headfirst into home to beat the tag, and sure enough, the ump ruled him safe and the Mets' dugout went bananas.

Koo

We're talking about Koo nine years later because his professional baseball career isn't over, and he's as entertaining as ever. After returning to play in the KBO, Koo took his talents down under, where he signed on to pitch in relief for the Sydney Blue Sox of the Australian Baseball League.

During the eighth inning of a recent appearance for the Blue Sox, Koo -- now 45 -- took issue with the limits of the strike zone. Instead of simply agreeing to disagree with the umpire, Koo coolly walked off the mound, waltzed up to home plate and drew the strike zone into the dirt surrounding home plate.

As you would imagine, Koo was promptly ejected.
