Baseball bat beer is a thing that exists, now

Throughout the evolution of man, an elite group of marquee achievements have eternally altered the course of human history for the better: the discovery of fire, the invention of the wheel, the mass production of antibiotics, the development of Netflix streaming and subsequent availability of every episode of The West Wing.

We didn't realize it at the time, but former Orioles and Mariners pitcher Chris Ray and his brother Phil joined that upper echelon back in 2011 when they developed their Homefront IPA, a beer aged with actual baseball bats.

For centuries, humans have been enjoying alcoholic beverages and sucking on the barrels of Louisville Sluggers to experience the authentic taste of America's pastime while gettin' they drank on. Now, they'll be able to experience it in a single can while contributing to a worthy cause. Proceeds from the beer will be donated to Operation Homefront, which helps the families of Americans deployed in the military.

Brewed with West Coast hops, fresh orange zest, and aged on Louisville Slugger Maple bats, this beer not only pleases the pallet, but raises money for our troops. 100% of the proceeds from the sale of this beer goes to Operation Homefront, an organization that assists military families when they fall on economic hard times.

The Ray brothers are co-founders of Center of the Universe Brewing Co. and they're working in conjunction with a host of other breweries to bring the baseball bat beer to a living room near you.

Homefront IPA will be available on draft and in a six-pack of cans at 11 participating breweries. Tampa's Cigar City Brewing will host a beer release event on May 28th for those of you lucky enough to be in or around that area.
