Check out Giancarlo Stanton's sweet new protective batting helmet
Giancarlo Stanton's season was cut short in September when he was hit in the face by a pitch, so this year he'll wear a helmet with a protective guard. He's not the only player to do so -- Jason Heyward wears one as well -- but his has some additional flair.
Look at the picture again. Notice the "G" in the guard? Yes, like Yves St. Laurent and Donna Karan, Stanton has become such a style icon that his mere initials are enough to make an accessory fashionable.
According to the Miami Herald, the guard itself is made out of a carbon steel wire and can withstand pitches up to 100 mph.
