Let's review Josh Donaldson's AL MVP-winning season in GIFs

We give Donaldson's MVP season the GIF treatment

Honestly, we should've seen it coming ...

After two fantastic seasons in Oakland, Josh Donaldson made his way to the friendly confines of Rogers Centre this season -- smack-dab in the middle of a potent Blue Jays lineup. Thus, on Thursday night, the Bringer of Rain became ... the Bringer of MVPs:

Let's take a look at how he got there.

Home runs

He hit 41 of them -- the most of his career and third in the league. He also led the AL with 123 RBIs. Sometimes he went back-to-back with his buddy Troy Tulowitzki.

Other times he just wanted to do it all by himself:

Donaldson was one of the top five defensive third baseman in the league -- compiling a 1.5 dWAR in 2015. You were hardpressed to find a night when he wasn't lighting up the highlight reels. His best moment (and maybe 2015's best defensive moment) came while trying to preserve a Marco Estrada perfect game back on June 24, when he completely left the field to catch a foul ball:

On the very next pitch, the two-time All-Star nearly saved his pitcher again with a barehanded snag and laser throw to first:

Running around the bases and scoring runs

It may sound simple enough, but you'd be surprised. Donaldson led the league in runs (122), total bases (352) and extra-base hits (84). If somebody needed to get to home plate for the Blue Jays, he was doing it. Even on popups to second base:

Look. At. That. Slide.

Swagger

Every MVP has to have that quintessential moment of swagger on the field (note the NL winner), and Donaldson had his during a game on Aug. 2 against the Royals. He flipped his bat ... after a walk.

If that's not MVP-caliber than I don't know what is.
