The Hall Is Ready: Setting the stage for Hall of Fame Induction Weekend
Setting the stage for Hall of Fame Induction Weekend
Hey, guess what?
IT'S HALL OF FAME INDUCTION WEEKEND.
Hundreds, if not billions of fans have already begun descending onto central New York to see Craig Biggio, Randy Johnson, Pedro Martinez and John Smoltz officially inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame on Sunday. The next three days will be a non-stop celebration of four careers that simply boggle the mind.
After all, there's much to celebrate: The foursome collectively boasts 33 (!) All-Star elections and a grand total of 4,667 games played in MLB. Craig Biggio had 3,060 hits! The trio of pitchers combined for nine Cy Young Awards and 11,113 strikeouts! That, friends, is a lot of batters headed back to the dugout disappointed.
But while the speeches are still a couple of days away, Cooperstown is very much in the throes of HOF weekend. Let us set the stage …

Get it -- because it's Christmas in July? Anyway, the Hall is ready:
Soon, the stage will be too:

The HOFers are gathering:
Kelsey Grammer is there looking for Wade Boggs (?), with HOF president Jeff Idelson:
Great seeing Kelsey Grammer @BaseballHall. For some reason he was looking for Wade Boggs. Cheers. @ChickenMan3010 pic.twitter.com/ESbdxz6KmK

And the SWAG is ready:
Good thing they made Randy sit, you know, because he's so dang tall:
We've reached the point where we can count down in hours (or even minutes, for the ambitious among us) until the induction ceremony. So while the honorees put finishing touches on their speeches (or, in Pedro's case, get ready to kinda wing it), we can start imagining what'll go down. Will Smoltz get some revenge on Greg Maddux for these zingers last year?
We can at least expect some golf jabs:
And will there be fake beards, like the first ever ceremony? (Please, please say yes.)
We can't wait.
Live coverage of Hall of Fame induction day begins at 11 a.m. ET Sunday on MLB Network, simulcast live on MLB.com.
