Happy 47th birthday to 1998 World Series MVP Scott Brosius

Scott Brosius played most of his career for the Athletics -- his tenure in Oakland included a superb 1996 season in which he hit .304/.393/.516. His production dipped way, way down in '97 though, and after that year he was traded to the Yankees in exchange for Kenny Rogers.

He rejuvenated his career in the Bronx, making the All-Star team in his first New York season. The year was punctuated by the two-homer performance in San Diego you see above, which helped him earn World Series MVP honors. It also earned the giddy thumbs-upping approval of GM Brian Cashman:

Playing for the Yankees from 1998-2001, Brosius never played for a New York team that didn't win an AL pennant. In his final year, he provided another piece of October heroics, hitting a two-out home run in the ninth inning to send Game 5 of the World Series to extra innings:

So how is "Bro" spending his time now? He's the head coach at Linfield College in Portland, his alma mater.
