Happy anniversary to Randy Johnson's 20-strikeout game

The Big Unit struck out 20 for the D-backs

Only three pitchers have ever had 20 strikeouts in a nine-inning start. Roger Clemens did it twice, in 1986 and 1996, Kerry Wood did it in '98 and Randy Johnson accomplished the feat 13 years ago against the Reds. It was a dominant performance (as you might have guessed), with Johnson mixing in his devastating slider with that legendary, high-90s fastball. Even Barry Larkin, a future Hall of Famer, looked lost at the plate:

The Big Unit also recorded his 3,118th career strikeout during the game, moving into 11th place on the all-time list. Happy Anniversary, Randy! We miss your heater almost as much as we miss your mullet.
