Homer Bailey's no-hit night started without a catcher
Homer Bailey was about to start the best game of his life on Friday when he saw a disconcerting sight. The right-hander arrived on the mound to make his warm-up throws in the bottom of the first inning at PNC Park, looked toward home, and saw ... nothing.
No catcher had yet arrived behind the plate, and Bailey was understandably displeased. After Bailey appealed to the dugout, Dioner Navarro hustled to get in place and help avoid any disruption of the no-hit rhythm that was about the begin.
