Hustlin', bustlin', Super Joe McEwing inducted into Irish-American Hall of Fame

He was small. He was scrappy. He loved the game. And Super Joe McEwing was almost always a fan favorite during his nine seasons with the Cardinals, Mets, Royals and Astros.
During his '98 rookie campaign, McEwing recorded a 25-game hit streak and manned every position except pitcher and catcher. As an outfielder, he had a 230-game errorless streak that lasted until '04. And as Mets fans (and certain players) may remember, Joe (kind of) owned Randy Johnson -- producing a .667/.571/1.667 line against the southpaw in 2000. That's 5'11" scrap vs. 6'10" fire. Joe the Giant killer.
On Tuesday, along with four others, the current White Sox third-base coach was elected into the Irish-American Hall of Fame in New York City. It's a nice honor for one of the hardest-working utility players in recent baseball history. And we haven't seen the tape, but we're guessing he probably ran to the podium.
