The Indians already miss Justin Masterson, so they dressed like him for a night
Indians wear high socks, a tribute to Justin Masterson
At its heart, baseball is a game you play with your friends. You eat with them, you travel with them, and you cover them in Gatorade when they do a good job. It's easy to forget that your team wasn't just a great idea you all came up with one day. Hey, the 25 of us get along, and we're all pretty good at baseball - let's just stick together forever.
But sometimes cold, hard reality interrupts your friendship in the form of the trade deadline. On Wednesday afternoon, Indians pitcher Justin Masterson was traded to the Cardinals. It didn't take long for his now-former teammate Jason Kipnis to express his feelings via Twitter:
The business side of this game can suck sometimes #bigfella #bearhug
- Jason Kipnis (@TheJK_Kid) July 30, 2014Masterson had always worn his socks high, so in honor of their erstwhile colleague, the remaining Indians rolled up their pants and pulled their socks up to their calves:

Some fans appreciated the tribute to Masterson, but after Corey Kluber's 85-pitch complete game shutout, some fans wanted the high socks for a different reason:
After that game the @Indians have got to wear #highsocks until they lose. Corey Kluber is so underrated. 3rd in the majors in strikeouts now
