Javier Baez hits game-winning home run in 12th inning of Major League debut
Cubs infield prospect Javier Baez was called up to the bigs with great ceremony this week. On Tuesday, he made his Major League debut starting at second base as the Cubbies visited the Rockies at Coors Field. Amid all of the hype and brouhaha, Baez started his MLB career by going 0-for-5 with three strikeouts ...
AND THEN HIT THE GAME-WINNING HOME RUN IN THE TOP OF THE 12TH!
The Cubs looked like they had the game in-hand when they took a 5-4 lead in the 11th, but Charlie Culberson delivered an RBI single to give the people more free baseball ... and Baez a sixth at-bat in his Major League debut. Baez came up and did his thang, Carlos Villaneuva slammed the door and a new era of Cubs baseball had begun with a 6-5 victory.
Welcome to the big leagues, kid.
