On Jay Buhner's 49th birthday, let's remember his over-the-wall catch at Fenway

"Hatteberg steps into the first offering by Hurtado, deep out to right field and GONE! A home run!"

Yes, the ball went over the wall. No, it was not actually a home run -- because Jay Buhner also went over the wall to bring it back.

The play occurred July 29, 1997, in a game where Tim Wakefield outdueled Randy Johnson. If that's not late-'90s enough for you, the Mariners lineup also included Joey Cora, Paul Sorrento and Jose Cruz Jr -- in addition to some more familiar faces. Fire up the Toni Braxton and bask in the full nostalgia here.

Buhner's catch ranks up there with anything we've seen from J.B. Shuck or Little Fenway of late. Happy Birthday, Jay -- and thank you for your outfield hustle, your 310 career home runs and that beautiful goatee.
