The Jayson Werth Chia Pet is here and it's as awesomely terrifying as you envisioned

Back in February -- when the summer sun and the 2015 MLB season were mere mirages on the horizon -- we were blessed with a gift to help stave off those doldrums. A gift that helped give a face (and a beard) to the glory that awaited months in our future. That gift was a digital rendering of the Jayson Werth Chia Pet.

Despite the incredible promise of the Nationals promotional schedule, it might have been difficult for some fans to envision the potential greatness of such a household item. But the first images of greenery budding from the formerly baby-faced planter have been released and, well, now no garden is complete without one of these awesomely terrifying things:

Is that chest hair? That's chest hair. Somehow, there are still tickets to the Nats-D-backs game on Wednesday, Aug. 8 at Nationals Park when they'll be giving these masterpieces away to the first 20,000 fans through the gates.
