Jeff Francoeur thought he was being super sneaky when he tried to steal third while time was called
Sneaky Francoeur tries to steal while time is called
Time was called during Sunday afternoon's Phillies-Nationals game while Erik Kratz was at-bat in the second inning, after a pitch bounced in the dirt and the umpire exchanged it for a clean one. Meanwhile, Jeff Francoeur was at second, and he was feeling sneaky.
JEFF. You can't do that. When time is called, you're not allowed to steal. The catcher wasn't even crouching in position. I guess that's why they call him "Sneaky Frenchy."
But, I'll admit, it was a valiant effort -- taking off for third in plain sight, he had to've known he was going to be sent back. But worth the try, right? He's the kid who knows his mom's watching him and tries to eat a cookie before dinner anyway.
