Jerry Sands broke three bats in the same AB
In the top of the eighth of Sunday's Tampa Bay-Houston game, the score was tied at 3-3. The Rays had runners on first and second, and pinch-hitter Jerry Sands was at the plate. He had an opportunity to drive in the go-ahead run, so he apparently started threatening the baseball gods. "Give me a hit or I start breaking bats. I'll do it. I swear I will."
Sure enough, two balls went foul and two bats broke:

On the third pitch, Sands singled into left field, scoring Matt Joyce from second. But the bat broke anyway, presumably so Sands could leave its splinters as a warning for the future:
