Festivus in July: Jerry Seinfeld is SUPER pumped about the Mets getting Yoenis Cespedes

Seinfeld likes Cespedes deal, invents new holiday?

By now we're all familiar with the tenets of a traditional Festivus celebration: the "Airing of Grievances," the standard Festivus pole, the "Feats of Strength" ...

Much like Festivus, MLB's July 31 non-waiver Trade Deadline is a widely recognized unofficial holiday featuring the airing of grievances (pretty much anyone on Twitter) and feats of strength (see Carpenter, Matt).

So it's not surprising that Jerry Seinfeld found a connection between the two.

The iconic comedian and diehard Mets fan took to Twitter as the Deadline approached to voice his elation over the team's 11th-hour deal to bring Tigers slugger Yoenis Cespedes to Queens.

A Cespedes for the rest of us, indeed. We're guessing Mets fans will be more than happy to allow Yo to combine the pole aspect of the holiday and the feats of strength by launching dingers off the left-field foul pole at Citi Field, even though it's not the traditional aluminum color and might not meet "strength-to-weight" ratio standards.
