Joe Nathan takes page out of Jimmy Kimmel's playbook and reads mean tweets about himself
Joe Nathan reads mean tweets about himself

Joe Nathan's first season in Detroit hasn't been the easiest transition. Coming off a career-best 1.39 ERA and his sixth All-Star appearance with the Rangers last year, the closer with the seventh most saves in the history of the game has struggled to a 5.25 ERA. With the Tigers in the midst of a postseason battle, fans have voiced some of their frustrations through humankind's greatest communication tool since in-person speech: Twitter.
On Wednesday, Nathan showed that he has a sense a humor with the whole thing, reading some of the tweets directed his way.
While the tweets varied in quality, Nathan's favorite belonged to Christopher Barger:
Please let the Joe Nathan experiment mercifully end and let the Tigers cut the man. You've heard of Shoeless Joe? Nathan is Useless Joe.
- Christopher Barger (@cbarger) August 20, 2014In the end though, Nathan offered this challenge:
"C'mon guys, I know you got better than this."
