Joe Niekro inducted into Astros Walk of Fame

Knuckleballer Joe Niekro was inducted into the Astros Walk of Fame before Houston took on the D-backs on Friday. Niekro's daughter, Natalie, accepted a plaque in his honor.

Niekro spent 11 years in Houston (1975-85) and holds the club record with 144 wins. He also ranks second in both shutouts (21) and complete games (82). The right-hander also pitched for six other teams in his 22-year career, retiring after the 1988 season with 221 wins.

Following Niekro's death in 2006, his daughter established the Joe Niekro Foundation with a mission to "aid in the research and treatment of aneurysm patients and families."

"Houston means so much to our family," said Natalie. "I know it meant so much to my dad, and it is truly an honor to be here today to celebrate this on his behalf."
