J.R. Richard inducted into Astros Walk of Fame
As part of the Astros' 50th anniversary celebration, J.R. Richard was added to the Astros Walk of Fame on Friday.
Described by Astros broadcaster Bill Brown as “one of the most dominant pitchers in Major League Baseball," Richard went 107-71 with a 3.15 ERA, twice recording more than 300 strikeouts during his 10-year career. He was forced to retire abruptly after suffering a stroke just before a game on July 30, 1980.
Richard also threw out the first pitch on Friday and signed autographs in the main concourse for fans.
He becomes the second former player named to the Walk of Fame this season, joining Bob Aspromonte.
