Juan Lagares and Bryce Harper played a round of defensive H-O-R-S-E
Lagares and Harper put up ridiculous defensive gems
After a truly ridiculous number of defensive gems, Juan Lagares has planted himself firmly at the top of the highlight mountain, to the point where it's far more remarkable when you don't take time out of your night to marvel at whatever absurd magic trick he pulled off this time.
The master was at it again during Friday night's win over the rival Nats, making the kind of grab we've all come to just expect:

Hitters weeping, Harvey clapping, center field secured. All was right with the universe. But on this night, Lagares' reign would not go unchallenged. One brave soul (with some highly impressive hair) was sick of this fielding tyranny, and decided to rise up. And as a wise man once said, you come at the king, you best not miss (NSFW language):

Yes, not even one full inning later, Bryce Harper responded with a complete hosing of Curtis Granderson at home to keep the Nats' deficit at one run.
But the Baseball Gods could not let such defensive brilliance go unbalanced -- for every highlight, there must be an equal and opposite anti-highlight. Poor Jayson Werth never had a chance:

Oy. Never underestimate the power of the Turf Monster, kids.
