Karl-Anthony Towns throws the first pitch for the Twins and then offers to be their closer
It's probably pretty good to be Karl-Anthony Towns. The No. 1 overall pick in this year's NBA Draft is gearing up for his first season with the Minnesota Timberwolves. But, before he hits the hardwood and runs the floor with Andrew Wiggins, Towns stopped by Target Field to showcase his baseball skills.
Towns threw out the ceremonial first pitch before the Twins game on Sunday and Brian Dozier was kind enough to frame it as a strike:
The 6-foot-11 former Kentucky Wildcat later explained that when he properly warms up and works some long toss, his heater can reach 80-85 mph. He even offered to try his hand at closing games for the Twins, should they be interested in his services.
Maybe he's the next big two-sport star. Russell Wilson had better watch his back.
