Ken Giles was traded to the Astros, so he thanked Phillies fans for booing him in his MLB debut
Giles thanks Phils fans for booing him in MLB debut
Rejoice, Astros fans ... for Ken Giles and his all-time MLB-best 1.56 ERA will likely be closing games in Minute Maid Park next season. The Astros acquired the 25-year-old reliever from the Phillies for a gaggle of pitching prospects, including Mark Appel, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2013 MLB Draft.
After the deal was finalized and announced by both clubs, Giles took to Twitter to share his excitement to start the next chapter in his baseball career (and to thank Phillies fans for booing him in his MLB debut).

- Ken Giles (@KenGiles53) December 12, 2015Giles debuted for the Phillies on June 12, 2014. He faced two batters in the top of the ninth inning against the San Diego Padres, surrendering a solo home run to Yasmani Grandal and then striking out Alexi Amarista to seal a 7-3 victory for the Phils.
The problem, though, was that he failed to hit 100 mph on the radar gun.

Giles did go on to convert 15-of-17 save opportunities after the Phillies parted ways with Jonathan Papelbon last season. And then he fetched a whole rotation's-worth of pitchers in the trade to the 'Stros, so it's safe to say that Phillies fans have a lot to thank Giles for, too.
