Ken Griffey Jr. is Orlando City SC's 10,000th season ticket holder and possible new midfielder

Griffey is MLS team's 10,000th season ticket holder

With the MLS season fast approaching, the two new expansion teams are doing their part to snag the baseball audience. NYCFC, led by Frank Lampard (maybe) and American hero Mix Diskerud, will be plying their trade inside Yankee Stadium. As for the purple-clad Orlando City, moving to MLS from the lower-tier USL Pro league, they announced on Thursday that their 10,000th season ticket holder was none other than Ken Griffey Jr. 

It's not surprising to see Griffey explore new interests in his post-playing career. After all, he's becoming a pretty big deal photographer

What's not known is if Griffey is now eligible to be called up to Orlando City's roster. After all, there are roughly 3.4 billion types of player acquisitions in MLS -- from Designated Players and Allocation Spots to SuperDrafts and Re-Entry Drafts. So it wouldn't be shocking to find out that there is a 10,000th Season Ticket Holder roster loophole in the rule book. 

Not that he would be a bad choice. After all, how different is a center fielder from a midfielder? (Although you could argue that Griffey should be playing as a false 9, similar to Lionel Messi, but I digress.) I mean, Junior is plenty pacey and is great on the ball:
