Kevin Kiermaier is H.O.V.A. in the outfield
If it sounds like Jay-Z is roaming the outfield for the Rays this year, don't be fooled -- it's really just Kevin Kiermaier.
The outfielder reprised his first-place "H.O.V.A." impersonation during a filming session with the RaysVision crew Saturday at Spring Training and had everyone in the room rolling.
Kiermaier's impression of the rapper also won his team gift cards and signed jerseys in January at MLB's Rookie Career Development Program. Second City, the famed Chicago improv company, had participating players role play baseball scenarios to work on their problem-solving skills. The prompt for Kiermaier's team called for a celebrity appearance, and the 23-year-old channeled his inner Jay-Z to help his AL East squad gain first place in the program's contest
