Greatest condiment race ever features collision, wardrobe malfunction and photo finish

Fan falls out of costume, still wins condiment race

Jesse Owens. Steve Prefontaine. Usain Bolt. This kid in the ketchup costume.

At Sunday night's Angels-Royals game, no attraction, snack, event, video or appearance was as captivating as the mid-inning condiment race at Kauffman Stadium (except for maybe the actual game, which the Royals won in walk-off fashion).

So, we're all familiar with this setup, right? We've got a kid in a ketchup costume, a kid in a mustard costume and the poor sap who pulled the short straw and got stuck wearing relish.

The game attendant waves her flag and the kids are off to the races ... except someone didn't properly study the course for the big night and went a little heavy into turn one, causing a collision that left ketchup and mustard writhing around on the floor:

The race is all but decided, until we remember that it's Relish we're talkin' about here. Out of nowhere, the kid who had been wearing the ketchup costume -- from which he was ejected during that horrific collision -- comes storming back looking like Billy Hamilton. With a desperation lunge, ketchup pulls off the win by a fingernail in the photo finish:

Get that kid a medal or a ribbon or a piece of the Aggro Cragg or something. He needs something to tell the grandkids in 2067.
