Klay Thompson's brother is a White Sox prospect who played golf with Daryl Boston

Klay Thompson's brother is a White Sox prospect

It wasn't exactly Arnold Palmer vs. Jack Nicklaus, but in a golf matchup between White Sox No. 14 prospect Trayce Thompson and White Sox first-base coach Daryl Boston, Thompson was tantalizing close to getting a victory.

"If I would have beaten him, it would have made my year," said Thompson with a laugh. "But I blew it."

Thompson blew it on the 17th hole at a local Glendale course, with the two of them tied at the time. Both men hit into the water, but Boston bogeyed the hole and Thompson double-bogeyed. Let the record show that assistant hitting coach Harold Baines produced the low score of the trio, with Thompson, who shoots in the low 80s, finishing a heartbreaking third.

Great athletic genes run in the Thompson family. Mychal, his father, won two NBA titles with the Lakers, while Klay, Trayce's brother, currently is one of the NBA's top players.

Klay is one of the famous "Splash Brothers" with Warriors teammate and MVP-favorite Stephen Curry. He also set the NBA record for points in a quarter with 37 against the Sacramento Kings on Jan. 23:

The athletes in the Thompson family don't stop there, either. Mychel, Trayce's eldest brother, also played in the NBA, while Julie, Trayce's mom, is a volleyball player.

"If you ask my dad, she's the real athlete in the family," Thompson said.
