Lorde may never be royal, but she does now have a Royals jersey
You may recall that Lorde's biggest hit, "Royals," was inspired by a 1976 National Geographic photo of Kansas City Royals legend George Brett. The New Zealand pop phenom's American tour took her to K.C.'s Arvest Bank Theatre on Friday night. And while Brett wasn't able to attend, he sent her a gift that brought the whole thing full circle:

The inscription inside Brett's No. 5 reads "you are Royal to me." (Insert "awwww" GIF of your choice here.)
Earlier the Royals tweeted a collage including an image of Lorde wearing the jersey:
