Watch this American hero set the world record for throwing a washing machine after a Reds game

While you were too busy refreshing your newsfeed to see what trades had gone down on July 31, there was a record being set at Cincinnati's Great American Ball Park after last Friday's Reds-Pirates game.

And no, it wasn't most bases stolen by Billy Hamilton in a single eye blink, nor was it most Coneys consumed by Joey Votto. 

Rather it was strongman Sean McCarthy, draped in an American flag and topped with a man bun, setting the record for throwing a washing machine the furthest distance. Just look at this example of peak humanity: 

The record of 13-feet-6.6 inches, held by the Lithuanian strongman Zydrunas Savickas, was smashed by McCarthy at 15-feet-9 inches. Sadly, we do not have the Statcast™ data for his launch angle and velocity out of his hands, but just watch the video to feel the pure excitement and power in the toss.  

But why did he set the record? And how does one get into throwing washing machines? 

The answer, as always: Where there is an object that could conceivably be thrown, there's a way. 

Or, as McCarthy said before the toss while he was practicing throwing wooden crates: It was for his children.
