Remember that time Manny Ramirez executed the strangest (greatest) cutoff of all-time?

Manny Ramirez's bizarre cutoff happened 11 years ago

Working here at "Cut4," we understand that a relay from center field to home plate should involve the center fielder, an infielder (the "cut") and the catcher ("4"). Eleven years ago, there was an exception to that rule. That exception was a left fielder. That left fielder was Manny Ramirez.

Manny

Excellent effort. Unfortunately for Manny and the Red Sox, David Newhan ended up with an inside-the-park homer and the Orioles won the game, 10-5. Boston, however, would finish that year in pretty solid fashion.

Damon told NESN.com what he thought about the cutoff last year:

I always thought it was going to be a one, maybe a two-hopper to third base with a chance of getting [the runner] out .. and I tried to relive the moment with Manny when we were [teammates] in Tampa [in 2011] and he didn't want to do it. I feel like I'm the guy who got the worst out of it, not him. But we finally got Manny to dive for a ball, and unfortunately, it had to be on my soft throw.

Happy anniversary, Manny. Damon may have gotten his revenge last season, but you did yours during an actual game!
