Marine proposes to girlfriend after throwing Padres first pitch
Your first lost tooth, your graduation, your funeral -- the thing about major life events is that there's generally a lot of life in between them. Well, this Marine decided to knock off two at once at Sunday.
After he threw the ceremonial first pitch before the Padres' game against the Blue Jays -- how many people get to do that? -- he didn't waste any time. He left the mound and walked directly to his waiting girlfriend, where he was on one knee faster than I thought orthopedically possible. Her response was an emotional yes.
"If that [pitch] wasn't over the dirt, it would've been bad," the Marine said. His fiancée agreed, joking, "I might've said no."
Just in case, future first-pitch Romeos: maybe pop the question first?
