Brewers catcher Martin Maldonado pitches a scoreless inning

A position player hadn't pitched for the Brewers for four years, but Martin Maldonado's performance in Wednesday's game against the Cardinals might convince manager Ron Roenicke to do it more often. Maldonado threw 14 pitches and allowed just one hit for a scoreless eighth inning.

After allowing a leadoff single to Allen Craig, Maldonado got three outs in succession -- Jhonny Peralta lined out to third, Greg Garcia grounded into a fielder's choice and Tony Cruz lined out to third as well.

So Martin Maldonado can hit the cover off the ball and he can pitch, too. Is there anything this man can't do on a baseball field?
